2019. 12’ 8” X 5’ 7” X 6”. WINE CORKS, CABLE TIES, WIRE.
This installation reimagines the family tree as a complex topography, intertwining the inherited narratives of addiction and the genetic predisposition to alcoholism. Constructed from wine corks—often symbolic of celebration and excess—the piece transforms the material into a visual representation of the weight carried through generations. The use of cable ties and wire suggests both the binding connections and the tension between heritage and personal struggle, illustrating how these patterns can shape and constrain the family dynamic. Each cork, though seemingly insignificant on its own, contributes to a larger, interconnected structure, reflecting the cyclical nature of addiction within familial legacies. This work invites reflection on the complexities of inheritance, the fragility of resilience, and the quiet burden carried by those who navigate these generational challenges.
